Hugh and Katy Moffatt in!

Hugh Moffatt is a very familiar and very welcomed face in the European acoustic roots music scene. He lived in Europe for several years and has toured extensively during the past 3 decades. Hugh and sister Katy are nearing the end of their current tour of Switzerland, Germany and Holland. The shows in the Netherlands are especially attractive as they are small, intimate settings.

For new or young fans not aware of Hugh Moffatt's credentials, we offer just a small capsule of Hugh and Katy Moffatt's accomplishments.

The songs of Hugh Moffatt have been recorded by pop, country, bluegrass, traditional, and gospel artists from around the world. Many of those songs were hits on the Billboard charts. Some of the greatest names in country music have recorded Hugh's songs -- from Patti Page to Jerry Lee Lewis to The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Alabama, and Johnny Cash. At least one of his songs have been recorded by popular performers almost every single year since 1975. Hugh also is a co-composer and librettist for three original operas, he has written two theater plays, and his children’s picture book series, Dissolvo Dog, began production last year. Hugh currently teaches an online course in songwriting for Danville Community College in Danville, Virginia, USA.

Hugh's younger sister, Katy Moffatt, has earned a substantial worldwide cult following among roots-music fans and much critical respect for her blend of country, folk, rock, pop, and blues. Katy signed a deal with Columbia Records in 1975, and she issued two country-rock albums. The second of which featured members of The Allmann Brothers Band. Katy first earned some attention in the roots-music community when she recorded an album of duets on the Rounder/Philo label with Hugh called, Dance Me Outside. Katy is currently involved in a major project, putting the finishing touches on her 16th studio album. It is the culmination of her 40 years as a performing songwriter (the "working title" is: Where The Heart Is). At the same time, she is developing her musical and spoken-word performance piece, Midnight Radio: A One- Woman Show. This is Katy’s edifying, always entertaining musical journey through 19th, 20th and 21st Century American life highlighting the role of women and the power of radio through songs of personal history and the telling of history through song. This one-woman show is the history of a woman, all women, and a nation. Katy's career has been marked by consistent critical acclaim, (including a 1985 Academy of Country Music nomination as Best New Female Vocalist), movie appearances (Billy Jack, Hard Country and The Thing Called Love), songs covered by many prominent performers, and an album that out-sold Garth Brooks on the U.K. country charts.

Now and Then, an album of duets by Hugh and Katy, was just recently released (22 February) 2016.
