The Porchlight Sessions: premiere in Tennessee

The Porchlight Sessions, a new documentary film on bluegrass music, which was featured on the EBB in April and May this year, had its premiere last night in the prestigious Franklin Theatre in Franklin, TN, south of Nashville, as part of IBMA's World of Bluegrass 2012. The Theatre is directed by Dan Hays, former executive director of IBMA.

The evening was launched with a special performance by Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, followed by the film screening and a special question-and-answer session with director/producer Anna Schwaber and editor Chris Cloyd, hosted by Craig Havighurst. Belle Meade Bourbon from Nelson's Green Brier Distillery was featured at the cocktail hour before and after the screening. Some of the film's stars were in attendance, including Sam Bush, Steve Martin, Bobby Osborne, Peter Rowan, Alison Brown, Laurie Lewis, and many others.

The Country Music Hall of Fame will also present an additional screening of the film on Friday 28 September as part of IBMA WOB's Fan Fest, at 11.00 a.m. with a question-and-answer session to follow.
