Retrospect and prospects in Switzerland

Kent Miller of the Swiss Bluegrass Music Association (SBMA) reports:

Switzerland can look back at a successful summer festival season in terms of music, fun, and food. The festivals in Thun and Stetten were blessed with wonderful weather. The later festivals in the Bernese Uplands and in Lommis in eastern Switzerland might have attracted a few less people than usual because of rainy and cool weather respectively. For one reason or the other, most of the festivals featured bands mainly from Switzerland. But good bands from other European countries (most of them from Germany) helped make the festivals attractive to the loyal fans in the various regions.

In the new year we expect to enjoy a few top acts from North America. The Krüger Brothers (left) are here again in November for concerts and excellent workshops. The indoor festival season starts in Winkel, near Zurich, at the end of October. The SBMA General Meeting is at the beginning of December. The regional jams continue to attract pickers and fans. Check out the information provided by the SBMA at their website if you're traveling in Switzerland this autumn.
