Neil Rosenberg on international bluegrass

The Continuum Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World, volume 8. Genres: North America, edited by John Shepherd and David Horn has been published, covering over 100 different genres of music in 584 pages, of which nine are devoted to bluegrass. A large part of the bluegrass section is written by Robert Cantwell, author of Bluegrass breakdown and other books.

A sub-section, 'International bluegrass', is contributed by Neil Rosenberg, doyen of bluegrass historians and a former Blue Grass Boy. Though bluegrass everywhere outside the USA has to be covered in a very limited space, themes such as the growth of the music in Czechoslovakia, the writing of bluegrass songs in languages other than English, and the formation of the EBMA are touched upon.
