In the 1970s, the best-known Dutch bluegrass band was the Country Ramblers. The original members were Jan Roelofs, Berry Selles, Jan Nuyen, and Lody van Vlodrop. These gentlemen have been playing bluegrass and old-time country music ever since, in several constellations, and are now planning a reunion concert on 27 May, in Kampen, where it all began (Stadsgehoorzaal, starting at 17:00).
The next day - 28 May - is Whit Monday, for thirty years already the day of the Big Bear Festival. I am very happy to announce that the original Country Ramblers have been added to the programme. This is a unique opportunity to see Dutch bluegrass history come to life again!
As published before, the other performers at the Big Bear Festival are the Alecia Nugent Band, the Grass Pistols, the Looping Brothers, and the Stroatklinkers. The festival programme runs between 13:00 and 19:00; in ideal weather outdoors, otherwise in the beautiful Theater De Kimme, on the grounds of Dennenoord/Lentis, in Zuidlaren, the Netherlands.
