Wanted: an affordable-premium British banjo

Thanks to the Prescription Bluegrass Blog (USA) for the news that Simon Middleton (left), head of the leading UK suppliers Banjos Direct, is eager to contact British banjo makers who can meet a particular demand in the growing market for instruments. While Britain already has specialist luthiers producing top-quality instruments at correspondingly high prices, Banjos Direct are searching for

high-quality, small-volume makers which are nevertheless working at a slightly larger scale than the individual hand-builders, and who can produce instruments around the £1,000 to £2,000 price point... we believe there is a real opportunity for British makers to supply the affordable-premium, not just the luxury, end of the market.
