After a radio career of thirty-five years, starting in 1970, on networks like SWF3, Victoria and RPR and an interruption of six years, Walter Fuchs (above; photo by Klaus-Peter Maier) is back on radio. From Wednesday 7 December 2011 on, he will broadcast 'live' every Wednesday from 8.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m. - that means every week a three-hour programme with lots of bluegrass, hillbilly, Americana, Tex-Mex, Cajun and acoustic swing.
The name of this weekly program will be 'Hillbilly Gasthaus' and will bring back memories of an old AFN hillbilly programme that ran from 1946 up till the early '50s. Even the theme-song will be the same as in the old days: Roy Acuff, 'Down in Union County'.
You can hear this programme worldwide on the internet on the German Coolradio 1 channel (classic rock, oldies, pop), where also Frank Laufenberg, a famous German radio personality, is broadcasting once a week. Beside the internet, folks in some parts of Bavaria can hear Walter's programme also on Digital Radio (DAB Band III) and via cable.
