Mideando String Quintet available for 2012 bookings

Stefano Santangelo (extreme right in above photo), mandolin player of the Mideando String Quintet from Italy, reports that the band is available for bookings in Europe during 2012.

The Mideando String Quintet won the title of #1 European Bluegrass Band 2006/7 at the European World of Bluegrass Festival, and as a result played at the IBMA World of Bluegrass 2007 in Nashville, TN, where they presented the award for Dobro Player of the Year to Rob Ickes.

The MSQ's 'Acoustic World Music' is a fusion of pop with some influences of bluegrass and jazz, played on acoustic guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin, violin, mandocello, and electric bass, and with lead singer and up to five-part vocal harmony. Original songs are written in Italian and English.

Their previous CDs Viaggio ('Journey') and Tutte le direzioni ('All directions') have received many good reviews, and airplay on many European and American radio stations. At present the band are working on a new CD. Their a cappella version of the traditional song 'Talk about suffering' was chosen to appear on the compilation 10 years of EWOB.
