Pete Wernick and wife Joan (USA) sent us a quick message this morning, shortly before they boarded their flight to Ireland for the Johnny Keenan Festival ...via The Netherlands. They will perform a FREE concert at the Hotel De Harmonie in Edam, NL on Wednesday, September 21 after the hotel's popular Wednesday night fish dinner.
Pete and Joan have a long history of making music together. They worked with the band 'Country Cooking' in New York in the early 1970s and have never stopped. Their repertoire is filled with instrumentals and traditional bluegrass & country duets. Their traditional music CD is called "Windy Mountain".
Many of you know Pete Wernick as a member of the premier band 'Hot Rize'. He is a well respected artist, songwriter, author and teacher. Pete produced actor Steve Martin's Grammy Award winning project "The Crow" (on which he co-wrote a song with Martin). He conducts Bluegrass Classes and Jam Camp programs, which he has brought to many countries including Russia in 2011. Pete was elected the first president of the International Bluegrass Music Association in 1986. His term as president lasted 16 years, at which time his Hot Rize band mate, Tim O'Brien, became the second president of IBMA in 2001.
It is short notice, but a great chance to hang out with two fine people and musicians as they spend a few leisurely days in Holland. Pete says, "Join us for a show to make you smile, tap your foot, and remind you of life's good things."
