Alex Hargreaves, Mike Barnett in Rome, 18 May

Danilo Cartia & Rome Bluegrass Jam present Alex Hargreaves and Mike Barnett (USA) in concert on Tuesday 18 May 2010 at the 'Cantine Blues', Via della Batteria Nomentana 66, Rome, Italy.

Alex Hargreaves of Corvallis, Oregon, excels in a wide variety of styles including jazz, bluegrass, new acoustic, Texas style, western swing and classical. Mentored by some of the greats in progressive acoustic music, he has already toured with Mike Marshall, David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, and Bruce Molsky, and shared the stage with many others including Mark O'Connor, Chris Thile, Tim O'Brien, Sam Bush and Darol Anger. Recently released on Adventure Music, his debut album Prelude features Bela Fleck, Mike Marshall, Noam Pikelny, Grant Gordy, and Paul Kowert.

Mike Barnett is a 20-year-old native of Nashville, Tennessee. He is an accomplished fiddler who has toured and performed with many renowned artists including Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys with multiple appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, Tony Trischka, the Deadly Gentlemen (Greg Liszt of Crooked Still/Bruce Springsteen fame), New England-based Northern Lights Band, and most recently the David Grisman Quintet. He has also shared the stage with Bela Fleck, Bobby Hicks, Andy Statman, and comedian/banjoist Steve Martin among others. A versatile player, Mike has been involved in a number of recording projects including his debut album at age 14, Lost Indian, the Deadly Gentlemen’s The bastard masterpiece, the Gordon Stone project Rhymes with orange, and One day with Northern Lights Band and more. Recipient of the 2007 Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin awarded by Mark O’Connor and Jonathan Cooper, Mike has been described as 'one of the hottest, fastest-rising musicians in bluegrass music'.
