Crowds expected at 15th Guinness International Bluegrass Festival, 27-30 Aug. 2009

Over 20,000 visitors are expected in the fishing village and seaside resort of Dunmore East, Co. Waterford, Ireland, during the 15th Guinness International Bluegrass Festival (27-30 August 2009). No admission charges are made in any of the six venues throughout the town.

American performers include the Jack Grace Band from New York, the Jeff and Vida Band from New Orleans, and Sarah Grey, a melodic and soulful old-time music singer and banjo-player. Irish bands taking part include the Knotty Pine String Band, Cotton Pickin’ Rodeo Clowns, Molly Hicks, Little Ass Birds, Swingin’ Bluecats, Fairweather, Bowmack, Hollorin’ Pine, Mean Eyed Cats, and Mad Uncle Harry. Many of the bands will be performing in a bluegrass showcase at Blackfriars in nearby Waterford city on Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August.
