Lilly of the West celebrates 15 years anniversary!

On Thursday 15 January 2009, Lilly of the West performed at the Czech Cultural Centre in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria. It marked the beginning of regular Thursday concert evenings hosted by the Czech institute, and the fifteenth anniversary of the band.

Lilly and band-colleagues Yasen (guitar), Ivan (violin), Bodie (bass) and Borislav (drums) performed for two hours a compelling mix of country, bluegrass, Irish, jazz, blues, and pop classics. The show was structured in three parts, including solo performances by each band-member and duets. A highlight was the band’s interpretation of Piazzolla’s well known piece 'Libertango'.

The concert was well attended by Sofia’s elite; among the guests was also Bulgarian radio legend Toma Sprostranov. Guests and musicians were welcomed by Mr Michal Pospisil, Czech cultural attaché in Bulgaria, and enjoying a pint of Czech beer and snacks. What a wonderful way to start the new season!
