Berklee bluegrass band in Finland

The Bluegrass Blog reports on a trip to Europe by members of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., USA, where the Acoustic String Principal programme enables banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar or fiddle players to take a degree course.

The Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland, which is a member of the Berklee International Network of schools, recently invited Berklee College to send over a bluegrass band as part of its Close Encounters concert series. A Berklee band - consisting of faculty members David Hollender (banjo) and John McGann (guitar, mandolin, vocals), and students Nate Leath (fiddle, vocals) and Eric Robertson (mandolin, guitar, vocals) - went to Helsinki last week, where they were joined by Finnish bass student Eero Tikkanen, and took part in concerts and teaching.
